Chris & Ann on their Classic Pynes House Wedding…
Pynes House met every single one of the criteria we had listed for our wedding venue – my husband wanted a period home and I wanted a location that poured in light. We wanted a location where our closest friends and family could stay for the whole weekend and where we could have the entire wedding instead of needing to change location. We met Phoebe (our Pynes House wedding coordinator) on the viewing and as we drove back up the drive, I stopped the car and said ‘this is it, right?’. We sent the email immediately and we were locked in!
The Outfits…
I wore an Aire Barcelona dress which I bought in Antwerp, Belgium (my hometown) at JPC Collection. My husband wore a 3-piece custom blue suit from Cad & The Dandy.
The Classic Pynes House Wedding Look…
Our colour scheme was all white and creams with a touch of blue. We wanted a classic look and loved the tints of blue we saw around Pynes House and hence incorporated that into the colour scheme. The flowers followed this scheme and my bridesmaids were my ‘something blue’.
We had the most beautiful flowers by The Flower Sessions for our ceremony and reception. Laura decorated the amazing staircase with flowers running up and the fireplaces in each of the rooms. We then had urns on each side of windows where we stood for the ceremony. For our wedding reception in the rose garden, the fountain was filled with beautiful flowers as well. She brought our vision to life!

The Day…
We wanted our wedding day to feel stress free and family-oriented, which came true with everyone wandering around the house getting ready on Saturday morning. Our ceremony was at 2pm held in the Drawing Room. We did our own vows, had our siblings do readings, and then had all our guests sing along to ‘I Love You Baby’ whilst signing the registrar. From there, we walked out to the rose garden – we had the most beautiful summer’s day with perfect blue skies. We moved from there to our wedding breakfast, which was catered by Pickle Shack. It was incredible and there was so much good feedback. We stepped out for tea/ coffee and cake cutting waiting for the party to start – the Phat Cats kicked us off with our first dance and we danced the night away in the Ballroom.
We had around 90 guests. It was a perfect number for having our Pynes House wedding ceremony in the Drawing Room, which we wanted to have due to the intimacy of it. We were able to get around and say hi to everyone yet still enjoy our day!
The Food and Entertainment…
Pickle Shack worked with us to create an incredible menu. We gave our guests the choice of three starters – salad of white crab, crab bisque, seaweed cracker and lovage oil, traditional duck liver parfait, and a carrot terrine – each one was as good as the other. We then had a mini ode to Belgium with beef fillet steak & frites with peppercorn sauce being our mains or cauliflower steak & frites for vegetarians. The meat was cooked perfectly and paired with the imported Belgian mayonnaise; it was just fantastic. For dessert, we did sharing platters of vanilla meringues, salted caramel eclairs, lemon posset, roasted apple and blackberry tarts, whipped vanilla mascarpone and seasonal berries. Everything was just magnificent.
The Phat Cats entertained us throughout the whole day. For the ceremony, we had an acoustic guitarist for when guests arrived and when walking down the aisle. When we had the drinks reception, we had a guitar and female singer who were beautiful. Lastly, for the evening, we had the Phat Cats Five (female and male singer, guitarist, drummer and saxophone) – they brought so much energy and our nearest and dearest danced the night away!
Most Memorable Moment…
My most memorable part of the wedding day was the ceremony – we were so surrounded by love and Christopher’s vows were so beautiful. Looking around and seeing everyone we love right by our side with huge smiles on their faces is a feeling I will never forget.
Something to Add…
We had a few people say to get a videographer as you do miss things that happened during the day and we completely agree now. Also just enjoy the day and let go. Everyone said our wedding day would be the happiest day of our lives and we didn’t believe them, but wow, it really was.
Mainly just a huge thank you to Pynes for being so fabulous. The venue was even better than we could imagine – every room is taken care of as if it was a 5-star hotel. They really make you feel like you’ve moved into your own home for the weekend and everything works like clockwork. Phoebe handled our day so perfectly and we were both able to focus on each other and the wedding with no concerns at all!
