As Nancy is a wedding planner herself, we knew that this elegant country house wedding was going to be pretty incredible. And sure enough, it was a beautiful celebration from start to end. Characterised by an elegant, minimalist aesthetic, Nancy and Andy also chose to add some small yet meaningful touches (the bespoke stationery featuring the architecture of Pynes House and their own pug was a personal favourite of ours), in order to truly make the day their own. For more on wedding planning advice and inspiration from a wedding planner herself (it doesn’t get closer to the source than this!), then read on to hear about Nancy and Andy’s elegant country house wedding.

A Few Words from Nancy on her Elegant Country House Wedding…

As a wedding planner, I had the pleasure of working at Pynes House in the past and I just fell in love with the house. The house had everything we needed for our wedding weekend – lots of beautiful rooms for our family and friends, each with beautiful windows which worked so well for the photographer to capture lots of light filled images. I knew it was the perfect setting.
The Outfits…
I wore a Jesús Peiró dress and my bridesmaids and page boys/flower girls wore different pale blue outfits.
The Day…
Our wedding day was in April 2023, so I wanted to incorporate lots of spring flowers and pastel tones. Our wedding ceremony was held at the Church of Our Lady in Upton Pyne, which is a beautiful quaint little church. Following this, we had our drinks reception in the Drawing Room and wedding reception in the stunning Ballroom at Pynes House. This was followed by cocktails and dancing!
The wedding breakfast was so lovely, as we were able to really relax at that point. We had speeches followed by a three course meal which was cooked to perfection.

The Elegant Country House Wedding Look…
We styled the wedding party and tables with pastel pink, pale blue and cream.
We had beautiful stationery designed by Laura Elizabeth Patrick. It used symbolic elements including our monogram, flowers from the architecture of the house in a toile design, and our little Pug Wolsey! We had an abundance of stunning flowers and tableware, which tied in with the pale blue details and the elegant country house wedding feel.
Don’t worry about trying to please everyone or doing what other people expect you to do as it will never happen and you will only take the focus of you as a couple, it’s your day!

The Food & Entertainment…
Good food, plenty of wine and a fun band kept our guests very entertained! We decided to keep entertainment simple as we wanted the wedding to feel relaxed.
Most Memorable Moment…
This is a hard one as there are so many lovely memories, but it would probably be the drive over from the church and that first second alone as husband and wife outside the house.
Something to Add…
Hire a wedding planner if you can, as they will guide you through the process and take away any stress. If this is out of budget, consider hiring a planner to help on just the day itself. Setting up tables was very important to me as a wedding stylist and so having help with this took a huge weight of me. I also think it’s nice to give the bridal party small jobs rather than relying on them to set up the entire wedding!
Try to plan something special the night before – we had a beautiful dinner in the house for my family and bridesmaids whilst Andy stayed in Exeter and had a lovely meal with his family and ushers. It really helped us to make the most of the weekend.
Thank you to the team at Pynes House who were so accommodating and made the day flow beautifully!
