A Classic Summer Wedding with a Scottish Twist – Jodie & Josh

Jodie and Josh’s gloriously sunny summer wedding at Pynes House was as beautiful as the weather itself. With a simplistic, classic theme encapsulating a navy, blush, gold and white colour palette, they created a day of understated elegance and excitement. Read on if you’re read to be inspired by their magical marquee affair with a Scottish twist…

Some Words From the Bride…

Jodie Says

We knew as soon as we started driving up the driveway that Pynes House was going to be our venue. We had not event taken a step inside and we were truly and utterly in love with the magic of the venue, it was absolutely breath taking and it only got better.

The Outfits…

I wore a Suzanne Neville wedding dress ‘Delphine’, which I am still absolutely in love with. My bridesmaids wore navy dresses from TFNC which were perfect as they were all different heights and they suited each of them perfectly.

The Day…

We hired the venue for the whole weekend, arriving on the Friday afternoon with our nearest and dearest who stayed with us at Pynes House. We hosted a lovely BBQ on the patio on the Friday evening, it really felt like our very own house.

On the day, we had the most glorious sunshine which was perfect as our ceremony was at the front of the venue. We then hosted our reception drinks in the rose garden, where our caterers Pickle Shack provided the most delicious canapes. Josh and I escaped at this point to get some beautiful wedding shots around the grounds of the venue.

We then made our way into dinner where we had our speeches. Tea and cake cutting was in the Drawing Room and then we had a marquee on the lawn to cater for additional guests in the evening. We ended the night with cheese toasties and waved our guests goodbye. It really was the best day ever!

The Look…

The colour scheme was navy, blush pink, gold and white. We definitely wanted more of a simplistic approach with the flowers being all white with some hints of blush pink.

On the tables, we added touches of colour through navy napkins and blush pink water glasses. In the reception we had hired in crushed velvet seating and a mirrored bar and poseur tables. We brought the flowers from dinner into the marquee to dress the tables.

The Entertainment…

We had bag pipes walk me down the aisle as I am half Scottish. He also played a little into the reception, which was lovely. We then had a playlist of songs as we knew everyone would be mingling and chatting.

After dinner we had a fantastic band Rapturous, made up of a singer/DJ, bongo player and Saxophonist. They were able to sing our first dance song and kept our guests dancing from start to finish, which was amazing. For me one of the most important things at a wedding is the entertainment, so we spent a lot of time making sure we had the right band for us and our guests.

Most Memorable Moment…

We look back now, and it all feels like a dream, but we absolutely loved the speeches and our first dance.

Some Advice…

Don’t worry about the things you cannot control. Once the day has started, those around you will make sure everything runs smoothly. Planning is key and make sure you tell other people about the things you are worried about so they can be responsible; your only job is to enjoy the day. You have spent so long planning it and it feels like it is over in a heartbeat.
