Whether you love the sound of a bright and colourful spring wedding or you’re after some wedding planning tips and tricks, Nancy and Jacob’s celebrations have plenty of gorgeous real wedding content for you to indulge in! With food playing a large part in their wedding, they worked closely with our exclusive award-winning caterers, Pickle Shack, to create a bespoke Italian style wedding breakfast, including sharing starter boards and a tiramisu style cake which served as a cake and dessert hybrid (more on this later!). Also opting for a live music throughout the day, they had the epic band Function Republic who played an acoustic set in the afternoon drinks reception and kept the audience dancing into the night with their evening tunes. Nancy & Andy on Their Colourful Spring Wedding…
We visited a few venues but instantly fell in love with Pynes House. We really appreciated the fact that the venue was ours for the whole weekend (whereas some of the other venues we visited felt like a bit of a production line where you were in and out). The house and gardens blew us away with how stunning they were. Food also played a huge part in our wedding and we’d heard nothing but good things about Pickle Shack and loved that we were able to create our own bespoke menu with them.
The Look for the Colourful Spring Wedding…
Our colour scheme was sunset colours. Lots of pinks, oranges and yellows – it looked stunning.
We had some incredible floral installations by the very talented Lucy Charlotte Floral. The flowers truly took my breath away! She did beautiful pieces which were on plinths for the end of the aisle which really framed the ceremony space, as well as some stunning installations on the mantlepieces. So many people commented how amazing it looked and I can’t believe she managed to get Ranunculi’s, my favourite flowers, which were right at the end of the season. Also, a shout out to my mum who is an amateur florist did all the table flowers on the Thursday before the wedding – they looked great and so professional. On the tables we also had blush pink, hot pink and orange candle sticks and blush pink napkins, to tie it all together.
The Outfits…
I wore a dress from French designer Rime Arodaky. I tried it on at The Mews Bridal in Clifton but actually got in a sample sale from their Notting Hill store. I loved the design of the dress – it was slim-fitting but not tight and had beautiful lace detailing.
For my bridesmaids, I was conscious that I wanted them to wear something they were happy with and also would hopefully wear again, so I let them choose from the pink, orange and yellow colour schemes. They all had different patterns and textures and I’m really happy with how the vision came to life – they were a real ray of sunshine!

A Colourful Spring Wedding – The Day…
Such a cliché but it was without a doubt the best day of our lives. We stayed together the night before, but Jacob was extricated from the bridal suite at about 6am to make way for hair and makeup. We both really enjoyed the morning getting ready with our respective parties. Then it was go time with guests arriving and final touches! Unfortunately, the weather didn’t quite play ball and there was a bit of rain forecasted just for around the ceremony time. But, knowing the Great British weather, part of the reason why we chose Pynes House was that the ceremony space inside was just as lovely as outside.
The ceremony was so special and then everyone spilled outside into the garden for drinks and canapes while our band did an acoustic set from the balcony. It was just heavenly! We loved that the Pynes team greeted us with our drink of choice as soon as we left the ceremony and whisked us off for 10 mins alone for some privacy and calm.
We then headed into the beautiful ballroom for our wedding breakfast which was delicious! After some very emotional speeches, the room was cleared to make way for the band and we danced the rest of the night away.

“Treat wedding planning as little mini dates that should be fun. We planned our menu one sunny day while having a picnic in the park. We had many trips to the pub or to a café with our notepads and laptop to do some planning, which made the experience so enjoyable. If you think you spend 1 year + planning your wedding and the weekend is over in a flash – the planning is all part of the experience.”

Colourful Spring Wedding – The Food…
How long have you got? This for us was one of the best parts of the wedding planning as we are such huge foodies. We worked really closely with Pickle Shack to create our own bespoke menu based on food we love. We decided to go for an Italian theme as we love Italy and know Italian food is such a crowd pleaser.
We went for a sharing starter as we thought that would be a good way to get everyone talking! It consisted of Burrata and home baked focaccia with oil and balsamic. Prosciutto, Mortadella, crispy fried courgettes, baked aubergine and more. Amazing!
For our main course, we found it so hard to decide but ended up with home-made pan-fried gnocchi, asparagus, fennel sausage, summer pea puree and lovage. We had so much lovely feedback on the food!
One of our pet peeves at weddings is when the cake gets brought out late and no one eats it. We loved our cake so didn’t want this to happen. We enlisted the help of the lovely Lisa at Boho cakes to help us bring our cake vision to life. She was totally brilliant really taking our ideas and running with them. We decided that we wanted an Italian sheet/slab style cake that we would serve as dessert, so it had to be a bit of a cake/dessert hybrid. We love tiramisu so based it on that with coffee-soaked sponge layers, chocolate ganache and mascarpone frosting. We had so many compliments on the cake and we were glad to see it mainly all went (except for some which we took on our honeymoon and some that’s currently in our freezer!).
The Entertainment…
We were really keen to have a live band for the evening and a friend in the music industry recommended Function Republic, fronted by the lovely Claire. One of our biggest concerns was that people wouldn’t dance – but we didn’t need to be worried as people didn’t leave the dancefloor thanks to how brilliant the band were!
They also did an acoustic set during the drinks reception which just really elevated the experience! They were so easy to work with – couldn’t recommend them highly enough!
Most Memorable Moment…
It’s so hard to choose as there were so many standout moments. However, one moment that really stood out to us was having all of our guests in the rose garden after the ceremony, some who had not seen each other for years, all mingling, going around and chatting to them all with Aperol Spritz’ and fab canapés.
Something to Add…
Give yourself enough time and tick things off every now and again. We booked the wedding about 18 months in advance and feel like that gave us enough time that we never really felt stressed.
We can’t thank the Pynes house team enough for everything they did. From the first visit to the weeks after the wedding, they went above and beyond. A special mention has to go to Honorata, who was our Pynes on-site wedding co-ordinator. She was brilliant and has the most lovely temperament, striking the perfect balance between enthusiastic, calm and caring, but you also know that she’s absolutely on top of everything. She even dropped two of our guests to their hotel at the end of the night when their taxi didn’t turn up – that’s going the extra mile…literally!
