Earlier this year we welcomed a group from across the pond to stay with us. Our bride, Kelly, hails from the US and had chosen to marry local boy Alex at Pynes House. Alex’s parents have farmed the land around Pynes House for over 50 years, so it was just perfect for the wedding reception to be held here.
When you think of country house weddings in Devon, you might not expect to see a kayak full of ice and cold drinks in the hall, but that’s what Alex and Kelly wanted instead of a bar. We spared thought for the kayak’s owner, who had to empty it out in time to catch his flight to Milan early the next morning!
