Picking a Wedding Theme

Planning a wedding can be a daunting task. It’s your big day and will be one you will remember for the rest of your life – of course you want it to be perfect. You want the venue to look beautiful, the seating plan to be a success, the decorations to look effortless and elegant, the guests to enjoy themselves… There seem to be hundreds of decisions to make and it is very easy to let it get on top of you. However, deciding on a theme at the very beginning can give you a clearer aim and a better idea of the overall image of want you want to create.
You can be as creative and daring with a theme as you like. If you’re both big kids at heart, why not pick a theme from your favourite movie or book? You could create Alice’s wonderland, bringing your favourite piece of fiction into reality for one day. Remember, this is your big day – you’re allowed to have some fun with it!

If the idea of a childhood movie-themed wedding sends you into cold sweats, a more classic vintage theme or even a 1920s style may appeal to you. Channel your inner Gatsby and Daisy with enough jazz, champagne and elegance to rival Casablanca.
Or opt for a bohemian, low key theme with floaty dresses, wild flowers and paper lanterns. A folky vibe is another great theme which is more on the low key side. Think colourful bunting, hay bales and a VW campervan to whisk you away at the end of the night. Both hippy/bohemian and folk are fantastic options if you’re on a bit of a budget.

Perhaps none of these ideas whet your appetite and you’d rather keep things very simple with just a colour as a theme. That’s fine. You must remember that this is your and your partner’s big day so make the theme personal to you – but don’t be afraid to be bold and have fun with it.
Pynes House is the perfect back drop on which you can create your wedding heaven. Set against rolling hills and in 37 acres of beautiful grounds, Pynes House is a venue you can make your own. The house is believed to be the inspiration for Barton Park in Jane Austin’s Sense and Sensibility, so is oozing in beauty, elegance and old grandeur. Take a look at the photos to see for yourself.
