A Very Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas from Pynes House

Well, we’ve hung up our wedding hats for 2016 and are getting ready for a “quiet” family Christmas, although we are not sure this could ever be the case with some seriously excited small children.

However, we are taking a moment (a very brief one – we still have presents to wrap) to reflect over the last year. In short, it has been incredible. With two extra babies in the house (fast becoming toddlers) and more weddings than ever, it has been our busiest yet, in every possible way, but also one of our best.

The year started with the refurbishment of our six second-floor bedrooms (bringing our total to twelve). Having spent the first two years of our time here deep in builders’ dust and surrounded by chaos, we sometimes feel like veterans of building work, so we were determined to set a tight timetable for its completion. Thanks to a great team, we got there and achieved one of the biggest transformations in the house. From derelict rooms which had not been lived in for some 70 years, to restful beautiful spaces, we are just a teeny bit proud of showing off those rooms.

Then the weddings for every season – Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter. I am always impressed that every wedding can be so different and yet always so beautiful. From the lavishly detailed to the elegantly simple, each is a reflection of the couple, but what unites them all is what it is all about – love. I may be biased, but I’m pretty sure we have the best couples – from their individual senses of style to their downright general loveliness. It remains a huge privilege to play our part in this landmark in people’s lives and makes everything worthwhile to get such great feedback from couples, their families and friends.

So, to our wonderful couples who are celebrating their first married Christmas, to those celebrating their second, third and fourth, to those whose families have grown in the last twelve months, to all the wonderful suppliers we have welcomed here and of course to our future couples, we wish you a very heartfelt Merry Christmas! Bring it on 2017!
