Forced to postpone their original wedding after Brandy had to undergo an emergency open-heart surgery just a week before they were meant to fly over from America for the wedding, it’s hard to put into words just how special it was to see Nick and Brandy able to celebrate their gorgeous Bridgerton-style wedding nearly a year later. Although their original guest count comprised of 50 guests, they ended up celebrating with just 11 guests in a beautifully intimate setting. Not only was this wedding absolutely stunning (the Bridgerton-inspired colour scheme of cream and blush tones with brass accents is just the start), but there was also such a lovely sense of celebration throughout the day. This has been a pretty special blog post to write and we can’t wait to share it with you – read on for more on their Bridgerton-style wedding.

A Few Words from Brandy on Her Bridgerton-Style Wedding

Growing up, I read a lot of Jane Austen and literature set in England. I was in love with it and romanticized it completely. Then, as an adult, I started watching Bridgerton, which just renewed that love. I started searching for a destination wedding venue with something like that in mind – something unique but romantic. I searched all over Europe – France, Spain, Italy. After going down a rabbit hole of places that didn’t seem quite right, I came across Pynes House. It was a dream. I clicked the image of the front of the house with the amazing stag statues and the gardens with rolling countryside. It was, quite frankly, too good to be true, and with every photo I clicked through, I fell more and more in love.
When I contacted Pynes House, I was so thrilled that it was not only within what we wanted to spend, but the people were so kind and helpful. When I say that the wedding fell perfectly into place when we started working with Pynes House, I am not exaggerating. It was made all too perfect by the fact that we could also rent the house for two nights and have the bridal party and our families stay there with us. It was going to be a wedding like we had never been too, and an experience for us and our loved ones in a setting that was serene and stunning – like a perfect dream.

The Outfits…
My bridal party wore long one shouldered dusty rose dresses from Jenny Yoo and matching GLDN necklaces with their first name initial on it, to match one I had gotten myself years before.
I was originally going to wear a lace appliqued ivory mermaid dress by a Ukrainian designer called Milla Nova. After open heart surgery though, I gained 30 pounds over my normal weight (we found out later this was because the first open heart surgery had failed and I was in cardiac failure again so my body was retaining a lot of water). So instead, I was able to get a beautiful Sarah Seven ballgown with no lace or beading but a beautifully structure neckline. I had my earrings custom made by a local Nashville jewellery designer and my shoes were simple Sam Edelman.

The Guest Count…
Originally, we were supposed to have about 50 guests at our wedding. We were set to get married in July 2022 but the week before we were due to fly to England, I suffered my second stroke of the year and found out that I needed emergency open heart surgery. Unfortunately, since it was so close to the actual wedding date, many of our guests were already in Europe. After surgery and a long recovery, we were able to reschedule our wedding to the 28th June 2023, but many of our guests couldn’t afford to make the trip from the United States again or they had had a change of circumstances, so we ended up with nine guests total when the wedding was able to finally take place. This was just fine and still beautiful (we felt like everyone there with us – Phoebe, Natalie, Jay, Jake – were as much a part of things as any guests, which we loved and appreciated so much).
The Bridgerton-Style Wedding Look…
It inadvertently became a Bridgerton-style wedding because as the wedding came together with creams and whites and blush tones, especially with the florals we chose and brass accents everywhere, it just looked to all of our friends like the show. So, they all lovingly called our wedding “The Bridgerton Wedding.” We thought the venue very much spoke for itself so we kept things simpler – white candles and linens, light pastel toned flowers, brass candle holders.
Our ceremony was in the Drawing Room. I love the wallpaper in that room, the fireplace, and the floor to ceiling windows with the little balcony. All that combined with the fact that the stairs lead straight down to that room, so it was perfect for a bride’s entrance. We chose to stand in front of the little balcony for our ceremony and we had Emma Hewlett, our florist, filled two big beautiful brassy toned urns with blush and cream toned florals and a lot of greenery that flanked us on either side. The chairs were cream and set up in a semi-circle around us since we had such a small group. For our reception, we had one long table set up in the ballroom that sat all 11 of us so that it was conversational.

“The most memorable part of the day for us was probably the moment when we got to exchange vows. It was honestly surreal considering that most couples starting out a marriage aren’t faced with cancelling and rescheduling their wedding due to an open-heart surgery that almost killed one of them. It made the moment that much more precious because it wasn’t an “I promise to be there in sickness and in health”, it was a moment of “we’ve already been there in the worst possible sickness and health and we will continue to be there for each other in that way – always and forever.” I cried through the entire thing. It was just one of the most beautiful moments I’ll ever have.“

The Day…
Our wedding day was actually one of the calmest days of my life. We planned the ceremony to start at 3:30 PM. Phoebe, Natalie, Nadia, the other Natalie, and sweet Lizzie kept me as much if not more company than my mom and sister who were running about getting themselves ready. At this point, these ladies had been with me a long time – not just that day but from the time I booked our wedding to be at Pynes House, through my heart surgery crisis and through rooting for me when I told them that we were ready to try to have the wedding again.
The ceremony was absolutely perfect. Photos were great. It even rained for just a moment so we were able to take some unexpected and very cool umbrella shots with the photographers.
After the ceremony we had canapes and cocktails, the wedding breakfast, a lot of speeches, and then our DJ. Between the music, drinks, dancing, conversation, and the beauty of the outside and inside of Pynes House, it was enough to keep everyone entertained.

The Food
Our wedding breakfast was incredible! Natalie truly made sure our menu was out of this world. After my heart surgery when it became clear that our guest list was going to be much smaller, she proposed the idea of making the wedding breakfast more of an experience and doing a five-course menu. I loved this idea! Natalie was very aware of my husband’s love of Japan, and so we worked on a bespoke menu that incorporated a lot of Asian flavours.
I let my husband pick the canapés which we started off with and being a big fan of cheese, he picked mac and cheese bites with truffle mayo (which may have been the best bite of food we’ve ever had), smoked cheddar and oregano arancini, courgette and carrot sushi rolls, and a salmon avocado and cucumber sushi roll. This incorporated cheese and Asian flavour – a good variety to get us started.
Natalie worked with the chef on a special starter that we lent itself to Asian flavour but also a healthier and lighter option for my dietary needs post-surgery. It was a shredded vegetable salad with beansprouts, roasted cashew nuts and a sesame ginger dressing. For the main, we had a crispy buttermilk chicken/tofu dish with coriander salad, steamed bok choy and katsu curry sauce. The whole menu was so carefully detailed by Natalie and the Pickle Shack team. For dessert, we went all out. We had a baked cheesecake that we cut that Pickle Shack then artfully put on sharing boards with gooey chocolate and white chocolate chip cookies, chocolate sauce, fresh berries, and clotted cream ice cream. It was over the top and absolutely perfect.

The Entertainment
Jake, our DJ, was incredible. He brought a special setup for us and made sure we had a Taylor Swift wedding (not an Ed Sheeran wedding – Nick’s only request was that we not play Ed Sheeran at the wedding because he thinks it’s overdone and we are both Swifties). We danced the night away and Jay at the bar delivered exceptionally the night before and the night of. He made some of the best drinks I’ve ever had and everyone LOVED him. It was all just perfect.
Something to Add…
No one expects to have two strokes at such a young age. No one expects that 10 days before their wedding, they will have a massive stroke and be diagnosed with a rare and crazy bacterial blood infection that is eating their heart and requires open heart surgery. I remember when they told me I needed that surgery saying, “I have a flight out for our wedding on Friday,” and them looking at me and saying, “Oh honey, if you leave this hospital you will die.” Wrapping your head around something like that and hoping everyone will understand is a scary thing. Facing a health issue is hard enough, but losing a dream wedding on top of it. That was just unbearable. And then later on, working with a team who helped you feel beautiful despite it not being the original dress, despite being 30 pounds heavier than normal, despite having lost a lot of your hair and needing to wear extensions to feel kind of normal. It was awful circumstances, and somehow – everyone who was a part of that day (guests and suppliers alike) made it perfect. I will never not think it was perfect. I will never look back and wish anything was different despite any way I was feeling. So thank you. Thank you to everyone who was there, who helped us, who supported and loved us. We love you too.
